Testing
To be included in the GT program, a student must be identified through testing as well as teacher or parent recommendation and evaluation. The fall testing, which normally occurs in September, is for students new to the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City School District who have been designated gifted and talented in a previous district. The spring testing period is open to any students who are nominated by a teacher, a parent, or themselves. The nomination deadline for this year is February 1, 2008. Services
GT students are expected to take at least one honors, Pre-AP, or Advanced Placement course each semester. In addition, core subject teachers who have GT students in their classes are expected to modify and/or offer enriched assignments occasionally to enhance the curriculum for these students.

On a weekly basis, the GT students meet after school in Mrs. Oelke’s room to play games and talk; game day is now on Monday. We also offer field trips once or twice a year. Students need to listen for announcements about these opportunities.
