About the Hall of Honor Recognition Program
Each year, the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School District honors those who, by example or direct involvement, help enrich the lives of our children. The District recognizes that education is a life-long process and that education is best when community members, especially district graduates and former employees, actively participate in the process.
Nominees are eligible for the Hall of Honor if they are: 1) former students or past graduates of the district that have demonstrated achievement worthy of recognition; 2) former employees or retired educators who continue to serve the school children even after their many years of commitment; or 3) community members who are friends of the district. A committee appointed by the superintendent will choose up to two honorees from each category each year. Inductees will be honored at 7 p.m. on October 3, 2008, at the SCUCISD Stadium before the Clemens vs. Steele High School football game.
Forms may be returned by fax to (210) 945-6292, by email to pmartinez@scuc.txed.net, in person or by mail to SCUCISD Communications Dept., 1060 Elbel Road, Schertz, Texas 78154. For more information, call (210) 945-6232

Distinguished Community Member - James J. Davidson
James Davidson has always been a strong supporter of SCUCISD. He joined the SCUCISD Board of Trustees in 1996 and retired in 2007 after 11 years of continuous service. While on the Board, he earned the title of Master Trustee through his involvement in the Texas Association of School Boards training program. While Davidson has been supportive of all district activities, his involvements with his granddaughters’ interests led him to a greater involvement with the district fine arts programs. Currently, he spends most of his days substitute teaching in the schools of SCUCISD.
Distinguished Community Member - May Rowell (’57)
May Rowell has been a strong supporter of the youth of the District for many years. She is a 1957 graduate of Clemens High School where she participated in band and athletics. For 23 years, Rowell served as the Protect Our National Youth Softball Director. This volunteer position involved working with girls 5 to 18 years of age. She has been a popular face in the crowd at District athletic events for nearly the past 40 years and has attended more games than any other fan.
Distinguished Former Students - Randy Rehmann (’74) & Russell Rehmann (’77)
Randy and Russell K. Rehmann are both graduates of Clemens High School and Texas A&M University. Randy graduated from Samuel Clemens High School in 1974 and Russell in 1977. During high school, the Rehmann brothers helped their father, Herb Rehmann, build the original press box at SCUCISD Stadium. Even after graduating, the Rehmann Brothers returned to help with repairs to the press box, restrooms and concession stands.
Currently, Randy is the President/CEO of Dymanic System, Inc., a company he started in 1988 with the help of his brother, Russell, who serves as Senior Vice President and CEO of the company. Through their combined leadership, their company has grown from a $20 million company to a $200 million performing company.
Distinguished Former Student - Paula Randol-Smith (’78)
Paula Randol-Smith is a 1978 graduate of Clemens High School. She is now an acclaimed actress, award-winning producer, and founder of Green Wisdom, Inc. She is a recognized leader in the “greening of America” and co-founder of Conservation Counts!, a national, educational media campaign designed to educate young people on their role in preserving our natural resources. Paula attributes her passion for acting and producing to her UIL and drama experiences at SCUCISD.
Distinguished Former Student – Maj. Allen Whitfield (’82)
Maj. Allen Whitfield is a 1982 graduate of Samuel Clemens High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1988 and has traveled the world serving his country. During his military career, he has served as a Platoon Leader, Assistant Professor of Military Science at the University of Houston, and Chief of Current Operations. Upon promotion to Major, he performed duties with the 43rd Area Support Group in Kuwait where he received a Bronze Star. Maj. Whitfield is now back home and stationed at Fort Sam Houston. Since returning home, he has become involved with the Buffalo Valley Youth Association as a coach and a member of the Board of Directors.
Distinguished Former Employee - Marion Dolford, Jr.
Marion Dolford retired from the district in June after serving as an employee of SCUCISD for the past 35 years. He served in numerous positions during his career, most recently as the principal of Jordan Intermediate. For more than 20 years, Dolford served as the United Way coordinator for the District. Under his guidance, the District’s campaign outpaced all other school districts in the area. Now that he has retired, he has become a full-time pastor at the church he has served as a Sunday School Superintendent for more than 20 years.
Distinguished Former Employee - Rosemary Rappmund
Rosemary Rappmund was part of the SCUCISD family for more than 30 years – first as a parent and volunteer and later as an employee. Rappmund passed away on June 23, 2006, after a brave battle with Guillian-Baree Syndrome. During her time at SCUCISD, she served as an instructional aide, band booster, and volunteer at the schools where her four children attended. During her career, she was also able to share her love of art and baking with hundreds of children in the District. In March 2007, the faculty and staff of Green Valley Elementary dedicated a mural at the campus in her memory.
