PLATO Math Home Access

This year the PLATO math software will be available for use at home.  It is outstanding for tutorials and extra practice.  The software runs best if used with high speed internet service such as cable or DSL service.    To be able to use the software at home, several plug-ins must be installed on the home computer.  The steps for setting up and gaining access to the software are as follows:

1.  Go to the following address:  http://platoweb.scuc.txed.net

2.  The PLATO Web Learning Network Account Information Page appears.
        - The account number to enter is 1003.
        - Once the account number is entered, some software may automatically install.

3.  After the account number is entered, click on submit.  The PLATO Web Login page appears. At this time you may want to add the address and this page to your favorites.  Then it will not be necessary to enter the account number each time that you want to use the software if your computer is set to save cookies.  If cookies are ever deleted, you will need to enter the account number again, so be sure and save the instructions.   Before you login, look on the left side of the page.  Click on “Where can I get the browser plug-ins I need to run the courseware”.  When the Installing Courseware Plug-ins page appears, scroll down to Macintosh Users or PC Users to match the type of computer that you are using.  For PCs click on “click here to download plug-ins”.  Follow the installation instructions.  In addition to step 1, you must do step 7 to install Shockwave Player and PLATO Xtras for all the software to run properly.  Everyone must also do step 8.  Step 9 is not necessary and may be skipped.  During the installation process, carefully follow the directions.  The computer must close all windows at some steps and possibly reboot.  You most likely will need to access the Login page more than once and click on the “Where can I get the browser plug-ins” tab again to complete the install.

Once you have all the plug-ins installed, you are ready to use the software.  Return to the PLATO Web Login Page by selecting the PLATO favorite.

4.  Complete the Login information

PLATO Name:     enter your assigned PLATO Name _________________________

Group Name:             enter your assigned Group Name    _________________________

Password:               enter your assigned password          _________________________

Your teacher must provide the above information.  When you logon information is completed Click on send and you will have access to the same lessons that you have access to at school.

Note:  For PLATO software to run, popup blockers and content filtering software must be disabled.
