Laura Dokken : Kinder, 1st and 2nd grades
Sharyn Gammon : 3rd and 4th grades

Daily reading will expose your child to various author's styles and will improve your child's decoding skills, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing.  The main goal is that your child will enjoy reading and will choose to read for pleasure.  Children are provided many opportunities each day at school to practice reading, however, it is extremely important that they read every day at home also.
The following time periods are the minimum amounts recommended daily.  1st - 15 min. / 2nd - 20 min. / 3rd - 25 min. / 4th .- 30 min.  This practice will help your child meet the end of year reading goals.   1st - 60 wcpm (words correct per minute)  2nd - 90 wcpm / 3rd - 110 wcpm / 4th - 120 wcpm.
Thank you for helping your child read at home.
