Greetings from the Music Teacher!
Mrs. Lucio is back from summer vacation and ready for the new school year.
The Music Class schedule won't be ready until the start of school on August 27th.
Music Class Vocabulary
In Music Class, we use words and phrases that we don't know use in other places. Below are a list of words and their definitions:
Orff Instruments - barred instruments that resemble xylophones and which are modeled after the piano keyboard
Recorders - small, plastic, wind instruments with holes drilled in them that sound a lot like
flutes. In Music class, we play Soprano recorders, but recorders come in all shapes and sizes.
Mallets - stick-like objects with wound up yarn at the tips that are used to play Orff instruments as well as other instruments
Solfege - the syllables we use to sing a music scale: do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, ti, do
What We Do in Music Class
We do many different activities in Music Class. Sometimes we dance, sometimes we sing, sometimes we play instruments, and sometimes we do all three! For our Pre-Kinder and Kindergarten students, Mrs. Lucio tells stories and plays games which explore young children's voices and imaginations. Mrs. Lucio believes in doing as many different activities as possible to make Music Class fun and interesting.
