Two seniors, Michelle Underwood and James Moore, from Steele H.S. and 2 seniors from Clemens, Zach Vargas and Katie Hoshaw, competed in the Hispanic Heritage Month Salsa Competition on Oct. 14 at St. Philip's College.
The students arrived at St. Philip's and had one hour to prepare their salsa and half an hour to set up their table for judging and to clean up. The judges were judging the use of proper safety and sanitation, knife skills and cooking techniques, creativity and of course the finished product of the salsa.
We are proud to announce that Steele placed 2nd in the salsa competition! Michelle and James will both receive $250.00 scholarships to the Culinary Arts program at St. Philip's College next year! Clemens students placed 3rd in the competition, both receiving $100.00 scholarships! Mrs. Herrington and Mrs. Tharp are very proud of their Culinary students for their hard work and dedication!
