Summer Reading Assignment '08
CLASS OF 2010
Let's hear it for our Juniors!!!!! We are back and ready to get started! Elections for class officers will be taking place within the first few weeks of school, so get ready to run for the class office of your dreams :) Fundraising for prom next year will begin soon too. Remember, ALL volunteers are welcome to help raise money for the Class of 2010 - see Mr. Thomas or Mrs. Corbett for details.
Attention Parents!!
Communication is very important in my classroom. Once school begins I will be asking for any contact information that you can give. If you have not sent an e-mail address or some other form of contact within the first few weeks of school, please do so as soon as possible. I am always available through e-mail and have no problem making time to meet with you on your schedule if need be. Thank you :)
OUTSIDE READING!!!!!
Every nine weeks I will give an outside reading assignment. Outside reading is a great way to improve reading skills as well as give the student an opportunity to read something they truly enjoy rather than what is being assigned to them in a classroom :) The students are allowed to read whatever book they choose as long as I approve it first. Approval is only needed if the student feels that it might be inappropriate. I very rarely turn down a students book choice. Page requirements are as follows - 1st nine weeks 200 pages - 2nd nine weeks 250 pages - 3rd nine weeks 300 pages - 4th nine weeks 350 pages. Students will be given reading days in class as well as all the reading time they want on their own. There will be one on one book talks with me at the end of the nine weeks periods that will be counted as a test grade. Reading can be fun as long as students are given the freedom to read about the things that interest them! If there are any questions please feel free to e-mail me.
