FAFSA
Every winter, about this time, graduating seniors and their families begin applying for financial aid by submitting the Free Application for Federal Aid (FAFSA). The information provided on the FAFSA is used by college financial aid offices to determine the amount of grant, loan and /or work assistance for which the student may be eligible. Before you are able to complete the FAFSA, the student and one parent must obtain Personal Identification Numbers (PIN) (for a total of two PIN numbers). Since it may take a week before you receive your PIN number, we encourage you to obtain these numbers from the Department of Education Website, http://www.pin.ed.gov/PINWebApp/pinindex.jsp

For a list of required paperwork click on our FAFSA link located on this page to the right. --->

Welcome to the SHS Counseling Department Webpage!

Thank you for visiting the Steele High School Counseling Department web page. We hope that you will find the information here helpful. We have tried to provide information that will assist both parents and students in planning for a successful and enjoyable experience here at Steele High School.  The SHS counseling department consists of four academic counselors, one student services counselor, one social worker, and one registrar.

Our counselors and staff are here to help students and parents navigate their way through high school and plan for their future. The counseling offices are open from 8:15 to 4:15 Monday through Friday. Parent-Counselor conferences can be easily arranged with a phone call or an e-mail. Because we are aware that your time is valuable, we would encourage you to call or email your son or daughter's counselor to insure they will be available to meet with you at a time of your choosing.  Students are also encouraged to make an appointment (at alpha offices) to talk with their counselor about school-related situations, including curriculum, graduation requirements, career counseling, assistance in academic problems, specialized testing, college entrance requirements and financial aid, and personal counseling.

School counselors have been teachers at least three years and earn an additional certificate by completing a Master's degree in counseling and meeting other Texas requirements. The counselors at SHS enjoy working with students, parents, teachers, administrators and other school community members on behalf of students.

Again we would like to invite you to browse the information on our website. If you have any concerns or questions about the information presented here please contact us.
