Welcome to Third Grade!!
The third grade team consists of  Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Rust, Ms. Ridge, Mrs. Schriewer, Mrs. Smith,  Mr.Sherman and Mr. Yocom.  We are really looking forward to this year and can’t wait to get know our new students and their families.

Third grade homework policy:  Each day the students will write down their homework assignments in their planners.  They need to keep all assignments in their red folder.  This will be checked each day.  Homework usually consists of Math, Reading, and Spelling on Monday-Thursday.  Science and Social Studies extra credit projects will be offered once every 9 weeks.

Accelerated Reader:  In third grade we really encourage students to participate in the Accelerated Reader program.  Students read books, take a test over the book on the computer and earn points for their work.  The students work towards point goals and a party at the end of the year.  We encourage you to help your student reach these goals by reading each night at home.

Math:  This year we will be using a new math program, CSCOPE.  We will also be using our new math adoption, HSP Math by Harcourt Publishers.  We will continue using Accelerated Math as well.

Science:

Social Studies:

Spelling:  Each teacher might have a slightly different spelling list and homework assignments but all tests will be on Friday.  Spelling is a large part of the Language Arts grade so BE SURE TO STUDY!!!

Behavior:  Behavior problems will be documented in the student’s planner.  Please sign this planner each night so we know you are aware of homework assignments and behavior issues.  The planner is a great place for you to write any notes to your child’s teacher.  The planner will be checked each morning.
