Welcome to Mrs. Bullock’s Language Arts Class.  I was born and raised in Alabama and graduated  from Troy State University in Troy Alabama, via the University of Minnesota/Duluth.  This is the beginning of my 13th year of teaching and yes, it will be a lucky one.  I have been in the SCUCISD for all 12 years of teaching and have been at Jordan since the doors opened.

I am married to a school principal and Kip and I will be celebrating our 5th anniversary in April, 2009.  I have two children. Marilyn, the mother of my two grandsons, Hayden and Colin, and Patrick who works for Rackspace.  Both are graduates of Texas State University, where I also received my teaching certification. Go Bobcats!

I am an animal lover with a menagerie of pets. I have two cats.  My male is a Siamese named Mr. Mistoffolees and my female is a ragdoll named, Miss Moffatt ( for Moffatt, TX where she was born) I also have three horses, Merlin,  Sedona and Nicky.

Please check your student's planner daily and sign them on the weekend. The teachers check them on Monday for parent signatures.  In addition, please review your student's grades on-line.  This will keep you up to date on your student's standing and to identify any missing work.  Any work that receives a grade below 70 can be corrected for a maximum grade of 70.  When your child is absent, it is very important to call for the daily work so they do not get behind.  I keep an absentee folder in my room and as papers are passed out; a paper for your student is placed in the folder.

Your student has a home reading log.  They should be reading each night and recording the pages read.  Please encourage your child to read a minimum of 30 minutes to build up their endurance.  When they have finished the reading, have a discussion with your child about what they have read.  Please put your signature in the appropriate block on the daily entry.

Thank you for all you do as a parent.

AR Tests every two weeks
The students must read an AR book and take a test every two weeks. Students choose a book on their reading level. I will choose the genre. The exact dates are given and the students should have this date written in their planner. On or before the test due date, students are required to take an AR test. These count as one quiz grade and no late testing is accepted unless approved by me. PLEASE MAKE READING TIME A PRIORITY EACH DAY and talk with your student about the book(s) they are reading!! Check the AR due dates which can be found under AR Test Schedule on the left of the screen.
