| Classroom Rules Be on time. Bring class materials each day. Follow instructions. Be respectful of others and their property. Wait for the teacher to dismiss you. Do your best!
| Grading Policy Homework/Classwork 35% Quizzes 15% Tests 50%
| Homework/Late Work Policy Your child will be assigned homework almost every night. I do this not only for academic practice, but also to help teach my students responsibility. Students must show all work in pencil. A 10-point deduction will be taken for using pen. All problems should be worked out. No work, no credit. A student who does not turn in homework has until the following day to turn in the late assignment and can earn up to a 70%.
| Correcting a Failed Test A grade of “F” does no one any good! Anyone who scores below a 70% on a test has the opportunity to make corrections. Students will make no higher that a grade of 70% on a corrected test. Students must, on a separate sheet of paper, correct only incorrect problems and staple to the top of the original assignment. Only test grades may be corrected.
| Absences Absent students are responsible for copying all missed notes, along with asking for any missed homework assignments. Students will be allowed three days to turn in, without a penalty, a missed assignment due to an absence. The assignment that was due on the date of a student's absence is due upon the date of return to class. After three days, the late work policy will be followed. Help will be available after school or after the day's lesson, if time permits.
| Tardies 1 tardy = teacher warning 2 tardies = one teacher detention and parent contact 3 tardies = discipline referral and one detention 4 tardies = discipline referral and two detentions 5 tardies = discipline referral and BAC assignment
| Supplies Students will need the following supplies for my classroom. These supplies will need to be refilled throughout the year as needed: Spiral Pencils (Pen is not accepted on assignments.) Notebook paper Folder Red grading pen or red pencil
| Tutoring Tutoring is available every day after school. It is a good idea for a student to let me know that he/she plans to attend.

Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year and welcome to 8th grade math! I hope that together –teacher, student, and parent-we can make a difference in how the math student excels. Your child’s success is as important to me as it is to you. Communication is the key factor in that success. I look forward to an exciting and rewarding year in math class.
