What is “Lunch-Bunch” ?
“Lunch-Bunch” consists of a group of students who meet each Friday. The students eat lunch together and the group is facilitated by a Supplemental Education teacher or a counselor from the Student Resource Center.
The students participate in different activities each week. The topics may include the following:
Bullying
Peer Pressure
How to start a conversation
Developing Friendships
Exam/Test Stress (coping strategies)
Nonverbal communication (facial expressions)
Hypothetical situations (What would you do?)
Gossip hurts
Sometimes kids have a difficult time making friends. It’s easy for some kids to read Social Cues and understand what facial expressions mean. Other kids have difficulty with this, and may struggle at times in the Social environment.
Organization can prove to be very challenging for many students at this age. Students are provided with opportunities to get assistance from a teacher or their peers in this area.
Peer tutoring is also encouraged because sometimes kids respond better when working with someone their own age that they can relate to.
This group was formed in an effort to help all of our students be successful socially, behaviorally, and academically.
This should be a fun, positive addition to their week. It allows students to give and also receive help from their peers.
