Important Study Skills Information:
Study Skills classes are highly desired classes. Students are given an opportunity to achieve success through the use of organizational skills, time management, TAKS preparation and independent study for completing homework and make-up assignments.
Study Skills teachers will work very closely with all core teachers to ensure student success across the curriculum.
Study Skills will not be a daily "study hall" class. Students are expected to complete daily assignments, homework and make-up assignments for all of their core classes. There may be times when homework and make-up work will be the focus of the Study Skills class, but students should not expect Study Skills to be their "homework" class each day.
Study Skills teachers will work closely with students and administration. If a student chooses not to take advantage of the special opportunity they have been given by being placed in Study Skills, a student/teacher/administrator reveiw will be held and the student may be removed from this special class.
Grading Policy:
Students will be graded each day in Study Skills.
There will be a binder/agenda check daily (each day is worth 20 points-cumulative for a possible 100 each Friday) - this will ensure students are organized in Study Skills as well as other classes
There will be assignments related to various study skills given throughout the year.
There will be a daily participation grade (each day is worth 20 points-cumulative for a possible 100 each Friday) - this will ensure students are using their time wisely every day in the Study Skills classroom setting
