Welcome to Byron P. Steele II High School! 2007-2008 was a great year for the Knights and 2008-2009 promises to be even better!
The Student-Parent Handbook is available online through our campus website. You may also access the handbook by going through the district website. Please take the time to sit down with your child and read the entire handbook!
Our next grading period finishes on Wednesday, December 10. Teachers will verify grades on Thursday, December 11. It is unusual for a grading period to end on a day other than Friday, so please ensure your child has turned in all work by next Wednesday!
With the end of the first nine weeks, we have moved into the next proactive phase of grade restoration. If your child is a freshman or sophomore, their teachers should be calling you if they failed a core class (English, Math, Science, Social Studies or Spanish). These students are under the 4x4 graduation plan, meaning that they must graduate with 26 credits. These students cannot afford to fail-they simply don't have time to make up credits! We want them to come in at either 7:30 am ( O Period) or stay until 5:00 pm ( 9th Period) to restore their first nine week grade. Their teachers will explain the program to you when they call. This grade restoration will not work unless you support us! We want your child to be successful and graduate on time! I also sent a letter home to all
freshmen and sophomore parents last week! Please contact me if you did not receive a letter and we will make sure you get one.
The Boy's and Girl's Basketball seasons are well underway at this time, with both teams city-ranked! Our Boy's & Girl's Soccer teams are also practicing at this time, in preparation for their upcoming games in January. The Steele Football and Volleyball teams finished fantastic seasons! Congratulations to all the players, coaches, trainers who helped to make these special experiences!
Juniors and Seniors who want off-campus lunch privileges need to bring a signed permission form to their Vice Principal. If you do not have this form, you'll need to buy another ID card with the proper off-campus designation at a later date. Students who will be driving to school must purchase a 2008-2009 parking pass for $10. A valid drivers' license and proof of insurance is required.
Textbooks have been issued. If your child did not receive a textbook, have them see Mr. Cisco asap. Please take special care of these expensive books and keep them where you can readily access them during the school year. We expect a new textbook order to arrive from the state within the week.
All students must have an ID card and should be wearing that card above their waist every day, all day.
Please be sure to read the student parent handbook section pertaining to cell phones and other electronic items.
GO KNIGHTS!!!
