In 8th grade math we are learning the 6 TAKS objectives that will be covered on the 2008 TAKS Math Exam.
The following are the TAKS Objectives listed in order:
Objective 1: Numbers, Operations and Quantitative Reasoning
Objective 2: Patterns, Relationships and Algebraic Thinking
Objective 3: Geometry and Spatial Reasoning
Objective 4: Measurement
Objective 5: Probability and Statistics
Objective 6: Underlying Processes and Math Tools
Algebra I: Algebra is not an 8th grde honors course. It is a 9th grade course that is being taught in the 8th grade, and is a Pre-AP course for AP Calculus and Statistics. A strong work ethic is a must. Algebra is not a hard subject, but requires hard work. Students will receive one high school credit for successfully completing Algebra I, allowing for AP Calculus and AP Statistics to fit into their high school plan. The eighth grade math concepts listed above will also be incorporated into the class.
