Gifted Education Information
Grades K-6
2008-2009

Dear Parents and Students,

The administrative staff and coordinators for our Gifted Education program welcome you to a new school year in the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School District.  Included are important dates for testing and information about nomination periods that you may need throughout the coming year.  Testing/Screening is not required for students who currently participate in our Gifted Education program.

If you are the parent of a student new to this district, and if your child was previously identified and received Gifted Education services in his/her former school, please inform the campus attendance clerk.  Participation in the Gifted Education program in another district does not automatically guarantee placement in this district, however, it does set the testing/screening process into motion.

The following students are eligible for fall semester nomination and screening:  Students who enrolled after January 17, 2008, and have not previously been nominated, or new students to the district for the 2008-2009 school year.  (See dates below)
Any kindergarten student is eligible for nomination and screening for the Gifted Education program. (See dates below)

Any student in the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD is eligible for nomination and screening during the spring nomination period.   Students may be nominated and screened one time only during any school year. (See dates below.)

Students may be nominated by anyone, to include themselves.  The nomination forms are available through all K-6 campus offices.  Completed forms must be returned to the campus office before the end of the nomination period for screening to proceed.

Fall Nomination Period 2008-2009

Sincerely,

Gary Wuest
