8th Grade Language Arts
Overview
Throughout the year, we will be reading various types and genres of literary work. Along with many works in our literature text, Prentice Hall Literature: Timeless Voices, Timeless Themes, we will be reading several complete novels: The Pigman, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and Monster. Vocabulary, grammar, and writing are skills that will be focused on daily. We will also spend time on a research unit, where students will learn about all the different sources our library has to offer. Students will learn how to conduct research, how to use appropriate and reliable sources, and how to present their information in a professional and correct manner.
TAKS Objectives
The student will:
