Mrs. Brandy Bagnall

Hi there, my name is Brandy Bagnall, I will be your teacher for 8th grade science!  I graduated from Southwest Texas State University in 2003 with a degree in Microbiology and Chemistry.  I decided to continue my education and graduated with my Master's Degree in Biology in 2005 from Texas State. In addition to teaching I am the school's Academic UIL coordinator and the Gifted & Talented coordinator.

This will be my 16th year teaching at Corbett;  I've never taught any other grade or subject or in any other district.  I love working here!

My family consists of the most wonderful husband in the world and my adorable dachshund Lily. My favorite things to do outside of school are reading, chilling on the couch watching Netflix, and traveling!

Digital Resources

  • We will be using a host of digital resources to help support our classwork.  Students will be introduced to these sites during class and will be given time to sign up and explore.

    1) MySCUC Portal/Classlink - This is a way for students to manage their SCUC profile from one central location. It has access to google classroom, the online textbook/resources, BrainPop, Discovery Education and much more!  To access this portal head to the district website, click STUDENTS at the top, click on MYSCUC PORTAL/CLASSLINK, and login.

    2) Science Fusion Textbook - Textbooks are handed out in class the 2nd week of school.  However, by accessing the Portal you can find the online textbook with many cool features including text-to-speech, highlighting capabilities, and even a Spanish edition.  You can also find digital lessons and labs that are aligned to each chapter.

    3) Google Classroom - This is a way for students to find extra copies of assignments, website resources for class, and a host of study materials.  Access the online classroom through the Portal or click here and insert the code given by Mrs. Bagnall.

    4) Remind - This is a free texting service that allows teachers to send quick reminders about classroom events and even facilitates safe two way communication between parents, students, and teachers.

Science and the Lab

  • Lab work is a crucial part of fostering an understanding of science concepts and students will be given the opportunity to participate in labs.  Students will be provided with safety equipment (goggles, aprons, gloves) and undergo safety training. Any student who cannot act appropriately in lab (ex: horseplay, not following directions, not following safety procedures) will immediately be removed from the lab setting and be required to complete indepdent work.  The lab safety contract can now be found in the student handbook.  By signing and returning the signature page you are agreeing abide by all lab safety rules.
