Welcome to 8th grade U.S. History.  My name is Donna Ulveling and I will be your child’s History teacher this year.  I am including the policies and procedures for your child to follow in my class to have a successful year.  It is my goal for the students to become active participants in their education, take on more responsibility and make sure they are ready for high school.

Supplies:  1 (100 page/ front to back) Composition Notebook (No Spirals, please),  pencils/pens.

We will use scissors, glue and map pencils on a regular basis.  Students are more than welcome to use their own supplies to ensure that they have the necessary materials.  Composition Notebooks will be used everyday.

Donations of tissues and Clorox Wipes are always welcome.

Grades:  Formative grades are worth 50% and include: daily work, homework  and quizzes.  Summative grades are 50% and include: exams and projects.  Students will take Quaterly Exams.   Students will need a Tx Connect account (to register for next year) for them to take responsibilty for their grades.  Please sign up for an account and monitor your student’s grades.

Assignments: Classroom assignments are expected to be completed during class time.    Late assignments will be accepted with a late penalty as stated in the Corbett Student Handbook and in accordance with the district grading policy. Late assignments WILL NOT be accepted after three (3) days.

Absent:  Students are responsible to getting all missing assignments upon their return to school.  Students will have two days to complete the missing assignments for each day they were absent.

Tardy Policy:  Students will be in their seats when the bell rings.
