Steven Deater began teaching band at the middle school level in Austin, TX in 1995.  In 2001, he served SCUC ISD as the Head Junior High Band Director at Corbett Middle School.  Mr. Deater joined the Steele family when it opened in 2005 and served as the Assistant Band Director and Percussion Instructor.  In May of 2010, he graduated from St. Mary's University of San Antonio with a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership with Principal Certification.  Mr. Deater has served as the Head Band Director at Steele since 2012.
