The student will understand:
- The nervous system is responsible for sensing and responding to stimuli in order to maintain homeostasis.
- Multiple types of nervous system cells allow differentiation of functions.
- Changes in membrane potential allows for initiation and transmission of signals.
- Neural cells communicate with each other, and other types of cells, through synaptic transmission involving neurotransmitters and allowing for signal regulation.
