The PSAT/NMSQT is used to qualify juniors for the National Merit Scholarship Program as well as to help determine college readiness. Our district believes this test provides many opportunities and benefits for our students, and we will be participating in this administration. Students must be juniors in high school to qualify for scholarships, but sophomores will also take the test as practice. All sophomores and the top 5% of junior scorers from the previous year will have the opportunity to take the PSAT/NMSQT at zero cost. Any other junior who wants to take the PSAT/NMSQT will be able to sign up on a first-come, first-served basis. The number of tests each school has available is limited and the cost of the PSAT/NMSQT is $17.00.

    Who Tests:

    • October 13, 2021 – Sophomores who are currently enrolled at Steele, the top 5% of junior scorers from the previous year, and any other junior who wants to take the test for $17 and who orders by the deadline.

NO ACTION IS REQUIRED for Sophomores OR for Juniors who were notified they scored in the Top 5% on last year's PSAT.  THESE STUDENTS ARE AUTOMATICALLY REGISTERED AND NO FEE IS REQUIRED.

For all other Juniors, the deadline to order a test is September 24, 2021 at 4:00 P.M.

Juniors who are not in the Top 5% of scorers, but wish to take the test must register and pay by the September 24th deadline.
