What is the TSI Assessment?
The TSI Assessment is a program designed to help institutions determine if students are ready for college-level course work in the general areas of reading, writing, and mathematics. This program also will help determine what type of course or intervention will best meet the needs of students to help them become better prepared for college-level course work if students are not ready.
If you are an incoming college student in Texas, students are required to take the TSI Assessment—unless already exempt—to determine readiness for college-level work. Based on how students perform, students may either be enrolled in a college-level course that matches student's skill level placed in the appropriate developmental course or intervention to improve skills and prepare students for success in college-level courses.
