IMANI MULTICULTURAL CLUB CONSTITUTION
Section I: Organization Name
IMANI Multicultural Club (IMC) is the name of this Club. IMANI is also
the parent organization for the Samuel Buffalo Steppers Step Team,
which has become very popular throughout Schertz, Cibolo, and the

IMANI Multicultural Club is a student organization originally
established in the year 2000 at Samuel Clemens high school. This
organization was established to be a community service type of
organization with an emphasis on providing a club for students of
various cultures and ethnic backgrounds a place to be able to come
together and have fun. Our purpose is to promote cultural awareness
and unify a diverse student population through education and positive
effort. The word “IMANI” comes from a Swahili word that for the seventh
day of KWANZAA’s, Celebration of the Harvest. It means to believe in
all our heart, our people, our parents, our leaders, and the
righteousness, and victory of our struggle. Although, IMANI stands
for Faith, we are not a religious organization in nature.
Section I: Membership Qualifications
qualification for membership to which every member must conform shall
be as follows: Membership in the Step Team is very rewarding and fun,
but demanding and requires a lot of discipline and patience. Anyone
interested in being in the Step Team must audition first and be
accepted by the Step Team Captains before performing at any functions.
IMANI members must maintain an overall average of 75% percent in all
classes, display good attendance, and excellent conduct in and out of
school. Any member disciplined by administration for use of alcohol,
drugs, possession of cigarettes, weapons or any other significant
violation of the school handbook will be subject to expulsion from the
organization. Reinstatement at a later date will be decided by the
Club sponsor, officer and school administration.
Section II: Membership Limitations
limitations on membership shall be Samuel High School students.
Parents, teachers, and community members with a genuine interest in
promoting ethnic diversity throughout the district are allowed to act
as sponsors. Honorary members are welcome to come back and support the
organization with approval of the sponsors, officers, and
Section III: Methods of Accepting New Members
a current member in good standing or a sponsor must recommend new
members. New members are required to sign an IMANI Code of Conduct
Letter. New members are then given a copy of the IMANI Merit System to
read and complete. Officers will be elected (voted in).
Faith focuses on honoring the best of our traditions, draws upon the
best in ourselves, and helps us strive for a higher level of life for
humankind, by affirming our self-worth and confidence in our ability to
succeed and triumph in righteous struggle.
