    Mrs. Hernandez

Welcome to Journalism I!  This is going to be a great year for our staff.  Together we will learn and grow in our community at Clemens.  We will gather many concepts of writing, photographing, organizing and distributing our publications.  So, put your seatbelt on and let’s get started.

Plagiarism Policy: The Random House College Dictionary defines plagiarism as the "appropriation or imitation of language, ideas and thoughts of another author, and representation of them as one's original work." Any student caught plagiarizing will fail the assignment.

Computers and the Internet: In journalism we use computers extensively for design, word processing, interviewing and research.  It is imperative that the students strictly adhere to district and school policies for use of computers and the Internet.

Supplies: Students will need supplies particular to the course additional supplies may be requested. These supplies will be used throughout the school year and need to be turned as soon as possible:

    1) 2 glue sticks

    2) 1 package of 24 pencils sharpened

    3) 4G Flash drive

    4) 1 pair of scissors

    5)  box kleenex (not required, but greatly appreciated)

Class Goal: The class goal is to publish monthly and online newspaper publications this year, meet deadlines, and work efficiently within assigned groups.  While doing this, the student should gain knowledge in the discipline of journalism.

We may have the opportunity to go on field trips or to have guest speakers; this would be an honor and privilege for our school.  In order to develop an impressionable course it will be our utmost attention to take every opportunity offered and within reach.  Let’s make this newspaper/ Journalism class a step to moving on toward Advanced Journalism.

Groups texts will be sent as reminders of due dates and deadlines.
