VAC Paid Employment and Volunteer Program Guidelines
Our work based VAC program is for students who have a need for support services in finding a paid employment or volunteer job. Students attend "core classes" part of the day and work part time or volunteer at a place of employment where they can earn an income. Students are monitored by a job coach and are assessed for their job performance by the VAC Teacher.
VAC Volunteer Employment Program Guidelines "new"
Students who participate and meet the requirements to become a VAC student may also volunteer at an agency which volunteers employees such as: An Animal Shelter, Food Banks and Goodwill. Students can earn vocational work experience while receiving volunteer training. Students are monitored by a job coach and are assessed for their job performance by the Vocational Adjustment Coordinator.
Transition Services is a coordinated set of activities for students that is designed to be within a results orientated process that is focused on improving the academic and functional achievement of the student, which facilitates the student's movement from school to post school activities, to include: Post-secondary education, vocational education, integrated employment, continuing and adult education, adult services, independent living, or community participation. It is based on the individual student's needs, taking into account the student's strengths, preferences and interests and includes: instruction, related services, community experiences, development of employment and other post-school adult living objectives and if appropriate, acquisition of daily living skills and provision of a functional vocational assessment.
