Mr. Brown
The Reading Lab
The Reading Lab at John A. Sippel Elementary School is intended to provide small group intervention instruction for students with dyslexia.
My name is Garrett Brown and I am the Dyslexia Interventionist who works with these small instructional groups. This will be my 13th year in education and this is my first year in the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City I.S.D. I received a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University and a Masters Degree in Educlational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington. In my career I have been a self-contained 4th grade classroom teacher, PE Coach, Schoolwide Coordinator and Dyslexia Reading Teacher at the elementary level. I have also taught dyslexia and English Language Arts at the middle school level. I truly enjoy this role because I am able to focus solely on the area of reading which is my passion. Actually, I consider reading a hobby of mine because it is something I enjoy doing in my free time. I find it very rewarding to work with students who are struggling readers. I am able to help instill confidence in these students and give them the tools they need to increase their reading skills.
I have tried to put together some useful information on this website pertaining to the reading process, reading disorders, as well as some useful resources for parents, students, and teachers. Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions or concerns. Let's make this new chapter in our lives successful. Together, I know we can.
Also, as we move forward, I will be updating my Google Classroom with activities the students can access. Use this code to join: tcatsvf.
