ABOUT ME
I love being a teacher; helping you find a love for reading and writing is very important to me! My own education journey began in Pilot Point, Texas, a small town in North Texas, where I was very involved in sports, cheerleading and Student Council. My coaches, teachers, and of course, my family, were paramount in me choosing education as my career! My goal each year is to be a positive role model and your own personal cheerleader in helping you figure out your dreams and then reach them.
From Pilot Point, my journey continued to College Station, Texas! Yes, I became an Aggie (all Aggie jokes are welcome)! I graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary Studies/English. Aggieland was not only my home for several years, it is also where I met my husband, Paul, who is an educator as well. Currently, he is a Principal/Deputy Assistant Superintendent for Marion I.S.D. We were married in 1996 and now have three children, all Aggies-in-training!
I have had the opportunity to wear many different hats as a mother/educator. 6th-8th grade ELAR, 6th grade World History, 4th grade self-contained, high school Math, and a coach of junior high and high school sports (volleyball, basketball and track) are a few of my teaching adventures. In addition, I have coached ages 2-15 gymnastics and swim, as well as sponsored many clubs such as Cheerleading, National Junior Honor Society, Student Council, and academic UIL events such as Ready Writing and Editorial Writing. I feel blessed to have had these opportunities because it has taught me so much about where my students are coming from, as well as where they are headed, both emotionally and academically!
My loves include: spending time with my family (we enjoy camping and exploring new places), cheering on my TAMU Aggies, teaching reading, writing and history, getting lost in a good book, participating in and watching most sports, and enjoying popcorn, a Coca Cola, and a movie!
Again, welcome to your 6th grade Language Arts class! This is going to be an awesome year! See you soon!
