• Social Worker Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD provides coordinated social services by licensed social worker in an effort to enhance the educational process and coordinate services with various agencies.

    The objective of coordinated social services is to support and help facilitate the mission of the school district:  to provide a safe, secure and challenging learning environment through the responsible use of all resources, to afford opportunities for all students to realize their individual potential and to become responsible and productive members of society.

    To meet this objective the district social worker: 

     

    • Provide consultation to facilitate an understanding of factors in the home that affect a student’s educational experience

    • Empower students and their families to gain access to community resources

    • Advocate for students and their families in a variety of situations

    • Collaborate with in district services and programs

    • Participate in committees that promote student success and inter-agency collaboration

    • Link families to community resources

     

     

    State and Federal lawmakers have mandated special programs for students who are at risk of dropping out of school, educationally disadvantaged, potential or involved substance abusers, school age parents, individuals threatening suicide, victims of abuse or neglect, missing or exploited children, or those truant and absent from school, displaced or homeless, migrant or in foster care.

     

    Since 1991, SCUCISD social workers have worked to meet the needs of these students.
