Mrs. Neal
I started college at The University of Texas San Antonio as an Interior Design major. I loved my art and design classes, but after three years - yes, THREE years - I decided that was not the right path for me. I immediately knew I wanted to teach. There was no question about that! I wanted to teach art, since art was in my background, but my counselor guided me in a different direction, since art teachers are few and far between. I chose elementary education, which I loved from the very beginning!
I began my teaching career as a first grade teacher. I taught first grade for two years and then moved to third grade, which I also taught for two years. After four years in the classroom, the librarian position became available. I loved books and reading, so I this was the perfect job for me! (It was much more difficult than I thought it would be, but it all worked out in the long run.) I've been a librarian for twenty-one years, and I feel it's the absolutely PERFECT job!
All twenty-five years of my career in education have been at Wiederstein. I even completed one of my student teaching semesters at Wiederstein! Wiederstein is my second home.
I have been happily married for twenty years, and we have two beautiful daughters. Not only is Wiederstein a great school to work at, but it has been the best school for my own children! My oldest is a junior at Samuel Clemens. My youngest is a 9th grader at Clemens.
I graduated from Samuel Clemens High School, so Schertz-Cibolo has been my home for a long time. I feel so fortunate to live and work with such wonderful people!
