The University of Texas at San Antonio

Mrs. Neal

I started college at The University of Texas San Antonio as an Interior Design major.  I loved my art and design classes, but after three years - yes, THREE years - I decided that was not the right path for me.  I immediately knew I wanted to teach.  There was no question about that!  I wanted to teach art, since art was in my background, but my counselor guided me in a different direction, since art teachers are few and far between.  I chose elementary education, which I loved from the very beginning!

I began my teaching career as a first grade teacher.  I taught first grade for two years and then moved to third grade, which I also taught for two years.  After four years in the classroom, the librarian position became available.  I loved books and reading, so I this was the perfect job for me!  I've been a librarian for twenty-three years, and I feel it's the absolutely PERFECT job!

This fall, I will be the librarian for two campuses - Wiederstein and Schertz. I look forward to instilling my love of reading to students and families as a Wolverine AND a Panther!

I have been happily married for twenty-two years, and we have two beautiful daughters. My oldest graduated this year from Samuel Clemens. My youngest is an 11th grader at Clemens.

I graduated from Samuel Clemens High School, so Schertz-Cibolo has been my home for a long time.  I feel so fortunate to live and work with such wonderful people!
