3rd Grade Policies
3rd Grade Policies
Welcome to Third Grade! We are pleased to have your children in our classes this year. We are looking forward to a very exciting and rewarding school year.
In order to provide the students with an effective learning environment, we have developed a “behavior for success” plan that will be in affect at all times:
- Respect yourself, others and school property
- Be prepared for all school activities everyday
- Follow directions
- Allow others to work undisturbed
If a student chooses to break a rule, the following consequences will occur:
- Verbal Warning
- Reduction of points on DOJO
- Loss of time during recess
- Parent phone call
- Discipline report completed; conference with Principal or Vice Principal
There are specific student behaviors that will incur an immediate reduction of DOJO points and a signature in their planners. Some examples of these behaviors may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Physical harm to others or bullying
- Inappropriate language
If your child has a wonderful day, they can earn points through DOJO. Accumulated points will be used for many choices of rewards.
Reading logs will be sent home every day in your child’s take home folder. The reading log is a classroom tool that can be completed at school and at home. We strongly encourage you to read with your child at least four to five nights a week at home. DOJO points will be given to your child as an incentive for reading regularly.
Each student will be given a planner at the beginning of the year. These planners will be used to convey important daily information about homework, school and classroom events as well as any serious behavior notes and other various information. Please check them each night.
Snacks are optional, but please be aware that students may not share their snack with other students who did not bring a snack.
If you wish to send a birthday treat for your child, there are several rules that must be followed due to new state laws.
- The teacher must be given a 24 hour notice that you plan to bring a birthday treat. If you do not give this notice, the office will not allow you to bring the treat to the classroom.
- The birthday treat must be store bought and include the ingredient list on the package. Birthday treats may no longer be homemade.
Campus Visitors and Early Release of a student
For the safety of our students, we require all parents and visitors to sign in at the office and receive a visitor label to stick to their shirts. Visitors seen on the campus without this label, will be asked to go to the office and sign in to receive a visitor’s label.
If you must pick up your child for an appointment, illness, or any other reason, you must sign the student out in the front office. According to school policy, the office will contact your child’s teacher to inform them of your child’s early release. Your child will meet you in the front office. A student will NOT be released without notification from the office.
Change in Transportation
If you have a change in transportation for your child, please contact the school office as soon as possible. A change in a student’s transportation can only be allowed if there is a written or verbal notification from the parent or guardian. If notification of a change has not been sent your child will go home the way they normally do based on the information parents have provided to the school.
It is in your child’s best academic interest to be in school on time every day. We start our day at 7:30. Any missed time will have a negative impact on your child’s learning progress.
It is in your child’s best interest that we work together in regards to his/her education. Please make sure to check your child’s DOJO account and student planner for behavior each night. The students will receive rewards for this but they need your help! We have already discussed this plan with your child. We ask that you review it with your child before signing and returning the bottom portion of this form. Thank you for your support and cooperation!
