Welcome to the Jordan Special Education Services Page
The educational programs at Jordan are concerned with all phases of individual growth. A federal law called the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) states that all eligible school-aged children and youth with disabilities are entitled to receive a free appropriate public education. Students will be provided with sound academic opportunities to facilitate their physical, emotional, social, and vocational potential. Jordan exists for the benefit of each student regardless of his or her capacity for learning. It is our task to provide demanding programs appropriate for all levels of ability. The goal of the Supplemental Education Department is to implement this philosophy into practice for students with disabilities and to insure that children with disabilities receive a free and appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment. It is our goal to serve every disabled, school-aged child who resides in our district. If you are aware of a student who resides in the district and meets one or more of the following disabling conditions, please contact our district office or your local school: Autism, Deaf-Blind, Deaf, Emotional Disturbance, Hearing Impairment, Mental Retardation, Multiple Disability, Multiple Disability with Severe Sensory Impairment, Orthopedic Impairment, Other Health Impairment, Specific Learning Disability, Speech and Language Impairment, Traumatic Brain Injured, Visual Impairment.
