• Got mad skills in math?  We would love to have you on our team!

    Join UIL Mathematics!

  • What is it?

In UIL Mathematics, you practice once a week to sharpen your already mad skills in order to prepare for math competitions in January and February. Practices are Tuesdays from 3:15-4:00.

What do I need to know?

You should have a pretty broad knowledge base of general mathematics--- operations, formulas, problem-solving skills.  You will learn some tips and tricks along the way to help you blow away the competition. You need to be a quick thinker, too.  You will be timed.

    How does it work?

At the competition, you will have 30 minutes to try and solve 50 math problems.  You want to answer as many correctly as possible...you get 5 points for each correct answer and 2 points are deducted for each incorrect answer.  If you place, you automatically qualify for the Tournament of Champions to be held at a later date.

  • Where is this competition, anyway?

There are three competition dates. Transportation is provided from Dobie if you have your transportation form turned in.

  • I want to join!  What do I do now?

Go see Mrs. Garcia in A207.
