About Mrs. Wetz
Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome to Mrs. Wetz's ELA!
Hello all! Due to the school closures, we are moving full time to Google Classroom. As of Mar. 23, I have manually entered every student into their Google Classroom by class period. Please remember to check Google Classroom daily. Do not email or "share" any work with me--everything will be turned in through Google Classroom.
I will be available for live help, tutoring, or check-ins at 10 am and 2 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays through Zoom. My personal meeting ID (which will not change) is 374-989-8119. Students are not required to meet in Zoom, but I will be available for help if need be. If students need help outside of those times, they can email me or send a message in Google Classroom.
For new students, Google Classroom codes are as follows:
1st period: bktoehz
3rd period: rysbyo2
4th period: nttugzd
5th period: sgtgzum
6th period: 565zrg4
7th period: ne4n72x
We will have set assignments for the week and follow the following format: Reading (listening to a book read- or you can purchase the book if you want to read faster), a chapter quiz submitted through google classroom, a research extension, grammar through the novel, and writing/discussion postings. Trust me, it won't be bad! We can get through this together!
Please sign up for Remind. This is a quick and easy way for you (and your child, if you choose) to get reminders and updates from me. I promise not to overload you, but I'll send quick reminders about big projects and the occasional test.Honors LA: Text @honorsaw to 81010LA: Text @wetzla to 81010Gifted & Talented: Text @dobiegt to 81010
For students: most information will come through Google Classroom the second week of school. Don't worry if you're not in the class yet!
First day of school handouts:
Mrs. Wetz’s Language Arts
Supply List 2019-2020
Every Student needs:
1 Composition Notebook (NO spirals!)
Pencils (mechanical pencils are AWESOME!)
Pens (any colors except NEON!)
Hi-Lighter (any color)
Students will also occasionally need art supplies (scissors, glue stick, markers, crayons, etc.).
Wish List – things that would be nice to have for total classroom use:
Loose-leaf notebook paper
Books for the classroom library (new or used!)
I will also be opening up Scholastic book orders for students. You and your student can shop online for books they are interested in, pay online directly to Scholastic, and have the books shipped to Dobie for free. Some books are considerably cheaper than at Amazon or Barnes & Noble (but not all, so be sure you comparison shop)! Search for class code THKDJ at scholastic.com/bookclubs. The first order will be due by Friday, Sept. 20. (There is no obligation to purchase books.)
