Allison Fannin

Welcome to Steele High School -- Home of the Knights!  I will be teaching Business Education and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) for the 2020-21 school year!

I am very passionate about helping kids figure out who they are and what they want to be in the future!  I take my role in their lives very seriously and will pour into them as much as I can!

My teaching philosophy is simple:  if I can teach a kid a skill that will put food on their table, a roof over their heads, and be a community servant when they leave us -- then I have done my job.  I love project-based learning and will prepare you for life beyond Steele High School through hands-on experiences and real-world problem-solving!

Before heading off to the classroom to teach, I worked in the corporate world and in higher education.  As a first generation college student born to a farming family, I learned the value of hard work and education at a very young age.  I received my Bachelors degree from Texas State University at San Marcos, completed Masters of Education STEM (Science, Technology, Education, and Math) coursework while serving as the Assistant Director of the Caruth Institute for Engieering Education at Southern Methodist University (SMU), and graduated with a Master of Science in Education from the University of Kansas.  I am currently a doctoral student at Baylor University in Educational Leadership.
I am happily married to the love of my life, Jeremy (a former Recon Marine) and have two amazing and beautiful (twin) daughters, Ashley and Brittany who are college students and indoor/beach volleyball players.  We have two fur babies, Pickles and Shelby (black labs) who are also the loves our lives.
I am currently serving as Advisor/Coach for the following student organizations:  Business Professionals of America (BPA), FIRST Robotics, CyberPatriots Open Division, UIL Accounting and Computer Applications, and S2S Mentor Program.
My students are very important to me and I want you to know that I am very passionate about making sure each kid achieves and leaves here with all of the tools they need to succeed in life!  I love them like they are my own!
