Tardy Bell rings at 7:40 A.M. (all students must be in their classroom prior to the tardy bell)

ATTENDANCE is taken every day at 9:35 A.M. (1:00 P.M. for afternoon PK)

EARLY SIGN-OUT and CHANGES OF GOING HOME ARRANGEMENTS end at 2:15 p.m.
Please arrive before 2:15 to sign your child out of class.
Please notify the office of changes in going home arrangements before 2:15.

Parents are required by Texas Compulsory Attendance Law to ensure their child(ren) is in school the full day of instruction (7:40-2:50) every day of the school year.  Absenteeism unavoidably affects the quality of a student’s work, interferes with normal instructional procedures in the classroom, and places additional demands on the teacher to provide remedial assistance.  It negatively impacts the child who is absent as well as other students in the class.

If you need to schedule an appointment, please try to schedule the appointment after school hours.  If you must keep an appointment during the school day, please keep the following in mind:

    o   Attendance is taken at 9:35 a.m.

o   Students can be signed out early or brought in late for a doctor’s appointment.

o   When a student returns to campus after the appointment, please make sure to  bring in a medical note. (doctor/dentist)

When a child is absent from school, the parent or guardian should send a note to the school explaining the reason for the absence upon the child’s return to school.  All notes must include:

    o   Date of the note

    o   Name of the child

o   The date of the absence

o   The specific reason for the absence

    o   Parent’s signature

    o   Parent’s phone number

You can also click on this link, Cibolo Valley Absence Form to submit an absence note electronically.

An absence may be excused when there is acceptable cause such as a personal illness, death in the family, or documented healthcare appointments.  Vacations are not an acceptable cause for an excused absence from school.

Parents are asked to help students learn to value education and understand the importance of arriving at school on time and ready to learn. The habits developed by children during their elementary years will last a lifetime. For that reason, tardiness to class is not acceptable. The tardy bell rings at 7:40 a.m.  Students will be counted tardy if they are not in their classroom by 7:40 a.m. Students who are tardy for classes must sign in through the office, by a parent/guardian. A tardy is recorded if a student is not in his/her classroom when the tardy bell rings. Tardies constitute an absence for “parts of a day” and subject to compulsory attendance laws.

For further information on the district attendance policies you may refer to the district’s Parent -Student Handbook. If you have any questions, you may contact your child’s teacher or contact the school office.
