Chef Tharp
Teaching Culinary Arts is my passion! I have been a Buff teacher for 14 years. I have 2 grown daughters who are also teachers and a 17 year old son, who is a senior this year. I have been married to the same man for 40 years. I also have a household full of pets - 3 dogs and 5 cats! Over the years I have taught nutrition, food science, and interior design, as well as culinary arts. I have a Bachelors degree in Family and Consumer Science from Texas State University, a chef certification from St. Phillips College, a Secondary FoodService Educator Certificate from Le Cordon Bleu and the National Restaurant Association. I am a registered ServSafe Instructor and proctor and an adjunct professor with St. Phiilips College.
My greatest joy is watching my students learn new things and succeed as young adults.

Culinary Classes teach more advanced cooking skills and nutrition, as well as skills needed to gain employment in the restaurant, tourism and hospitality industry. Students in this class have the opportunity to earn college credits, as this class is aligned with junior colleges throughout Texas. Competitions allow the students the chance to win scholarship money and visits from local restaurant chefs, food production facilities and culinary schools expose the students to professional opportunities after high school.
