ATTENDANCE AFFECTS YOUR CHILD'S EDUCATION!!!
Official Attendance is taken at 9:35 AM
**Remember to send in an excuse note every time your child is absent. A written note or e-mail from the parent/legal guardian is required to excuse the absence -- calling in a student’s absence does not excuse the absence.
**If the student spends some part of the day in school and he/she is out for a medical/dental appointment, a note from the medical care provider is required to excuse the absence.
**Attendance notes must include the student’s first and last name, ID number, grade and teacher’s name. The reason and date(s) of absence as well as the signature and contact information for the parent/legal guardian must also be included.
**Attendance notes can be delivered to the front desk, sent in with your child, faxed to 210-619-4690, or emailed to tbush@scuc.txed.net.
You can also click on this link;
Schertz Absence Form on the left hand side of my webpage and submit an absence note.
**All excuse notes must be turned in to the office within three days of your child's return to school or the absence will be counted as unexcused.
- 3 unexcused absences will result in a Truancy Warning Letter from the Truancy Officer.
- A doctor's note is required for any student that is signed out of school prior to 2:50. Early sign outs for any other reason are considered unexcused.
- A student is allowed 9 absences per semester (18 per school year) in order to meet the Compulsory Attendance Law's 10% rule. Absences over these amounts may result in loss of credit and/or grade retention.
- The tardy bell rings at 7:40 a.m. Students will be counted tardy if they are not in their seats/with their teacher by 7:40 a.m. Excessive tardies will result in administrative action. This may include official notices, attendance contracts, and possibly a court referral that may result in court fines.
Our Weekly Attendance Goal is 97%
At Schertz Elementary, every day that we reach an attendance rate of 97% or higher, we earn a letter. Once we spell out FUN FRIDAY,we will have a school wide fun activity to celebrate our commitment to education. Every Child's Attendance Counts!
Additional information regarding the attendance policy can be found in our parent/student handbook.
