Kari Wallace, Electives teacher at Allison L. Steele Enhanced Learning Center (ALSEC), has been selected as the KENS 5/Credit Human EXCEL Award winner for the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School District. The announcement was made on November 2nd via a Zoom conference due to continued COVID-19 protocols
Wallace received an acrylic plaque from KENS 5 and a $1,000 check from Credit Human Federal Credit Union. KENS 5 will air a feature story on Ms. Wallace on November 11th during its 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. newscast.
“I am very excited and honored that the district is recognizing me for my years as a teacher,” Ms. Wallace said. “I am a little lost for words, but teaching is a wonderful profession and seldom celebrated so I am really proud of this award,” adding “first and foremost it is all about the students!”
Wallace comes from a family of educators. Her father and brother were both teachers. She received her degree from Texas Lutheran, where she also starred on the basketball court. She eventually put her Business degree in the classroom. Wallace taught and coached at Byron P. Steele High School and Samuel Clemens High School before coming to Allison Steele ELC. Helping students on her campus reach their goals brings her the most joy.
