Bronk named new Director of Fine Arts

SCUC ISD Board Trustees approved the recommendation of Ms. Mary “Beth” Bronk as the new Director of Fine Arts during the called meeting held on May 3, 2022. She will succeed Mike Lipe, who has announced his retirement at the end of the school year.

"I am honored and excited to join SCUC as the next Director of Fine Arts!” Bronk said. “! I would like to recognize the great work of current Director Mike Lipe, and I value the strong support for the arts already in place.”

Ms. Bronk is currently the Associate Professor and Director of Bands at Texas Lutheran University (TLU). During that time, she led the band, pep band, and brass quintet performances; presented at state, national and international conferences; taught courses to aspiring music teachers; and served as Chair of the Faculty Association to name just a few of her many accomplishments. Bronk has also earned numerous awards including the Texas Bandmasters Association Meritorious Achievement Award in 2022, an award given to just 3 individuals each year for significant contributions to music education throughout their career.

Prior to her tenure at TLU, Bronk spent 18 years serving as music director, teacher, supervisor and administrator at Lampasas ISD and New Braunfels ISD.

Bronk has a Bachelor’s degree in Music from the University of Texas, a Master’s degree from the University of North Texas, and is currently working on her Doctorate through Columbia University in New York City.

Her official duties will begin on July 1, 2022 but Ms. Bronk plans to visit SCUC ISD prior to July as she helps continue the district’s tradition of excellence in the Fine Arts. “I look forward to helping lead the district in its vision for all students in areas of the arts."
