Suanne Chang-Ponce named Director of Special Education
SCUC ISD Board Trustees approved the recommendation of Ms. Suanne Chang-Ponce as the new Director of Special Education during the called board meeting held on June 7, 2022. Chang-Ponce has been serving as acting Director of Special Education since March.
Ms. Chang-Ponce has been at SCUC ISD for six years, serving as Educational Diagnostician before assuming the Assistant Director position in Special Education in October of 2019.
“I am both excited and honored to be selected to continue serving the students and families of SCUCISD and to continue working with the dedicated and caring educators in our district,” Chang-Ponce said.
Prior to her tenure at SCUCISD, Chang-Ponce spent 21 years serving as Special Education Teacher, General Education Teacher, and Curriculum Administrator in Texas as well as Special Education Teacher, Dean of Discipline and Secondary Assistant Principal in New York City.
Chang-Ponce has a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Texas, a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Columbia University in New York City.
Her official duties will begin July 1, 2022.
