Kalea Ajel of Steele HS named KENS 5 All-Star Student
Kalea Ajel, senior at Byron P. Steele High School, has been selected as the KENS 5 All-Star Student for the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School District. The presentation was made to Ajel in a ceremony in front of the school on November 2nd, with her parents, Jana Cervantes, principal at Steele HS, and a few select teachers. Antonio Castello, local representative for UPS, presented the award to Kalea for her academic and extra-curricular excellence.
Kalea is ranked in the top ten percent of her class, attaining that success while taking dual credit and Advanced Placement classes. She has a seat on the Student Council and somehow finds time for the Excalibur Dance Team.
Ajel is also four-year letter winner in soccer and cross country, and serves as captains for both teams. She is also a four-year member of the Steele AF JROTC, where she currently serves as flight commander and working on earning a pilot’s license. Community service is also a focal point for the senior, as she has logged over 100 hours of assistance in the past three years.
