May 3-7, 2021 is designated as National Teacher Appreciation Week, and Tuesday May 4th is set aside as National Teacher Day. Teachers at SCUC ISD, and throughout the world have evolved from “teaching the three R’s” but their impact on education, and society, continues to be timeless. They inspire, mentor, coach, and are the catalyst of lifelong learning.
There is no “one size fits all” approach to teaching; individual approaches are applied to each student. Lesson preparation, grading papers, tutoring, and engaging with students and parents alike makes a teacher’s job a 60-hour a week vocation.
The pandemic that has now encompassed two school years has brought into focus how teachers rose to the challenge to teach in-person and virtual learners alike with care and creativity, sometimes while overcoming disruptions in their own lives.
Teachers should be given immense credit for supporting their students this year, and working to find ways to help students make progress, whatever that progress may look like.
Please take just a few minutes to share your appreciation and say, “Thank you.”
