All SCUC ISD campuses to open on February 22
All SCUC ISD campuses will be open on Monday, February 22nd for both In Person and @ Home learning. Classes begin at their regular times.
SCUC ISD has been in contact with utility officials over the weekend to assess the water conditions for Monday and beyond. All SCUC ISD campuses and district facilities currently have running water, and restrooms are available for use. Schools who get their water from Green Valley Special Utility District (Schlather Intermediate and Cibolo Valley Elementary) are currently still under a boil water notice.
We were just notified by the City of Cibolo that their boil water notice has been lifted. Campuses who get water from the City of Cibolo (Steele HS, Dobie JH, Jordan Intermediate, Wiederstein Elementary and Watts Elementary) will be able to use school water for drinking and hand washing.
Those campuses under a boil water notice (Schlather and Cibolo Valley) WILL be able to open to in person instruction tomorrow morning. Cafeterias will be able to prepare food safely, but staff and students will not have access to water for drinking and hand washing. We are asking staff and students at these two campuses to bring water to meet their drinking needs each day while the boil water notice is in effect. SCUC will provide additional water for those who are not able to bring water or need additional water. The district will also be providing additional hand sanitizer and wipes for students to clean their hands after using the restroom.
Thanks to the hard work of our facilities and operations staff, SCUC ISD campuses and facilities have very few facility issues impacting school. Any slight, short-term modifications to class locations will be shared by individual campuses, so please be on the lookout for emails from your child’s principal.
The past 8 days have been difficult for our entire community. Thank you to everyone who, despite their own housing issues, jumped in to help neighbors in need. We should all be thankful to live in a community where everyone pulls together in times of need. SCUC is excited that we were able to get our schools back up and running.
