Autism Awareness Month

April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day, on which we “Light it up Blue” for autism. SCUC ISD campuses are celebrating in a variety of ways. At Jordan Intermediate, students and teachers in the Structured Learning Classroom created a video about autism to share with staff and students, and all students will create their own puzzle piece to create a collage. At Rose Garden Elementary, the library shares books about autism and the campus is featuring videos about diversity, inclusion and kindness during announcements.

SCUC ISD offers a full continuum of supports and services for students on the autism spectrum, including our Structured Learning Classrooms, which offer intensive communication, visual and structural supports for students. SCUC ISD employs behavior specialists, Certified Autism Specialists, parent trainers, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, physical therapists and many other professional staff who support our students with autism and their families. Kelly Carroll, Special Education teacher; and Jillian Pratt, Rose Garden ES librarian
