District receives $740K reimbursement

Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD applied for and received a $738,000 reimbursement check award from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) on May 26, 2021, the result of the TCEQ Grant Agreement for the Texas Volkswagen Mitigation Program.

Dr. Clark Ealy, Superintendent of Schools, was presented the check by Francisco Perez, Director of Transportation and Demographic Services before an audience of happy bus drivers and department staffers. The settlement will be deposited into the 2016 Bond Fund.

SCUC ISD purchased ten school buses with proceeds from the 2016 Bond at a total cost of approximately $1,000,000. The settlement check will be returned to the 2016 Bond fund, which translates into almost 74% in savings from the acquisitions. https://bit.ly/2kqw7NH

The new buses are designed to reduce nitrogen oxide released into the environment, running cleaner and extending the sustainability of the fleet while saving money on maintenance and overall cost.
