Health & Safety Protocols Update
December 31, 2021
SCUC Parents and Guardians,
SCUC ISD continues to monitor the impact of the newest COVID-19 variant on our local community. Additionally, district administration met with other school districts and San Antonio Metro Health leaders this week to determine how updated CDC guidance would impact our schools. We will be following the updated recommendations for isolation and quarantine periods (https://bit.ly/3EKUU1U) .A summary of the changes is shown in the table below.
Our district staff has also updated our Health and Safety Protocols (https://bit.ly/3eTt7lH, revised 12/31) to reflect these changes.
COVID-19 Symptoms
The most common symptoms associated with the new Omicron variant include, but aren’t limited to:
- Cough
- Fatigue
- Congestion
- Runny Nose

COVID Testing
All SCUC campus nurses continue to have the ability to provide COVID-19 rapid testing. These shallow nasal-swab tests are available for staff and students. For SCUC ISD students who are exhibiting symptoms and whose parents would like them to be tested prior to returning to school on Tuesday, testing will be available at all campuses by appointment only on Monday, January 3rd from 1 pm to 4 pm. For those interested, please plan to call your child’s campus after 8 am Monday to schedule.
We continue to appreciate your partnership in helping keep our students and staff safe and healthy. Have a safe and happy new year’s celebration. I am looking forward to all the wonderful things that we will experience together in 2022.
Respectfully,
Clark Ealy, Ph.D.
Superintendent of Schools
