Shauna Jackson, Class of 2020 graduate from Byron P. Steele High School, earned a gold medal in the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games as part of Team Texas in the 3X3 Female Basketball Team Competition. The feat was accomplished in June at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.
Jackson and her teammates went undefeated in their four preliminary games, and took the gold medal match. Team Texas was the first Female 3X3 Women’s Basketball team to ever represent the state in the competition.
