Trustees approve appointment of new Special Education Director

SCUC ISD Trustees approved the recommendation of Kimberly Ferguson as the Director of Special Education at the scheduled July 23, 2019 meeting. Ferguson had been serving as Assistant Director of Special Education in the district since last July.

“I’m excited and honored to have been chosen to serve SCUC ISD in this capacity,” Ferguson said. “I am especially looking forward to expanding our partnerships with parents and the community so we can work together to ensure that all of our students have positive, inclusive and meaningful and inclusive learning experiences.”

Prior to coming to SCUC ISD, Ferguson also served as Special Education Coordinator in Seguin ISD. She has also worked as Coordinator of Behavioral Services in Comal ISD and served in other districts as Social Skills Instructional Specialist, Behavior Specialist and Special Education teacher. She also was a Special Education Coordinator at Busan Foreign School in South Korea.

Ferguson earned her Bachelor of Science in Communications Studies from the University of Texas at Austin and her Masters of Education in Educational Administration and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington.

She is a Certified Autism Specialist, CPI instructor and Certified Restorative Discipline Coordinator.
